e-CMR Solution Providers Meetings: Second Phase of the "Paving the Way for the Digitalization of Road Transport Documentation in Italy" Project Completed

The second phase of the project “Paving the way for the digitalization of road transport documentation in Italy”, promoted by Unioncamere with the technical support of Uniontrasporti and co-financed by IRU, has been completed.

Following the first series of webinars, held between October 2024 and January 2025 to raise awareness among companies about the benefits of digitalization and the use of the electronic consignment note (e-CMR), the project moved into its operational phase – carried out between february and may 2025 –  with technical meetings involving leading European e-CMR solution providers.

Accudire, Pionira, Transfollow, Transporeon, Tesisquare, and BitCargo presented their solutions, involving a total of over 800 participants, representing around 600 companies. Two-thirds of these operate in the transport, logistics, and manufacturing sectors, while the remaining third come from other fields, including ICT (Information and Communication Technology).

These meetings offered companies a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding and engage in direct exchanges with technology providers. The partners showcased their digital solutions in detail, highlighting features, operational benefits, and practical use cases. This provided participants with useful insights both to start adopting digital tools for road transport and to better understand the range of solutions available on the market. The meetings confirmed the sector’s growing interest in digitalization and the need for reliable, interoperable applications.

The project is continuing with an analysis of the level of digitalization in the road freight transport and logistics sector, carried out through a series of interviews with companies not only from the sector itself but also from the manufacturing industry, in their role as shippers of goods. The aim is to identify priorities and concrete actions to support the digital transition process.

The project acknowledges the support of the partner trade associations – ANITA, ASSOTIR, CNA FITA, Confartigianato Trasporti, Conftrasporto, FAI, Fedespedi, FIAP, and Trasportounito – whose contribution was instrumental in promoting the initiative and engaging participating companies.
