e-CMR Italy adoption

Paving the way for the digitalization of the road transport documentation in Italy

D-ROAD IT is the project launched in July 2024 with a planned duration of one year, which aims to facilitate the adoption of digital transport documentation through various actions, including awareness raising, networking between stakeholders and identifying barriers to implementation.

The project, supported by Unioncamere, Uniontrasporti and the International Road Transport Union (IRU), includes several key activities:

  1. Awareness campaigns: informing the road transport community in Italy about digital trends and regulatory frameworks such as eTIR, eFTI and e-CMR, with the planning of webinars and seminars.
  2. Networking and meeting between supply and demand: organize events where technology providers present their e-CMR platforms to logistics and transport companies, with the aim of accelerating adoption by small and medium-sized Italian enterprises.
  3. Pilot project for e-CMR document control: involve the Italian authorities to facilitate field testing of e-CMR documentation during control activities.
  4. Survey on digitisation of transport documents: conduct a survey to assess the current state, challenges and needs regarding the adoption of digital transport documents in Italy.

The project also includes structured management and communication strategies, with updates shared through the website and social media channels.
